Adventist Health to Integrate CancerIQ Decision Support Support Into EHR

NEW YORK (GenomeWeb) – Adventist Health said today that it will integrate a cancer risk assessment and management platform into its Cerner electronic health record as part of a newly expanded partnership with software developer CancerIQ. The integration will also help improve population health management, Roseville, California-based Adventist Health said.

CancerIQ is a Chicago-based startup that makes a suite of technology for streamlining genetic testing management and integrating clinical decision support. Its platform scans family history, performs predictive risk modeling, and automates compliance with National Comprehensive Cancer Network guidelines.

Adventist Health, an integrated healthcare delivery network on the West Coast and in Hawaii, has been working with CancerIQ for the last year and a half to improve identification and management of patients at risk for hereditary cancers. Integration of CancerIQ into the Cerner EHR workflow will increase the effectiveness of this program, the parties said.

"Supported by the CancerIQ technology, Adventist Health will now be able to identify candidates for genetic testing, offer education and testing, and provide counseling across the network and various care settings," Candace Westgate, director of Adventist Health Early All-Around Detection (AHEAD), the health system's population hereditary cancer risk assessment initiative, said in a statement. This will include primary care, Ob/Gyn, breast imaging, gastroenterology, and oncology, she said.

"Adventist leadership is ensuring that genetic testing is not only a part of their innovation and specialty service line development strategy, but a foundational part of their quality assurance, patient safety, and population health management initiatives," added CancerIQ Cofounder and CEO Feyi Olopade Ayodele.
